  James S. Cook

James Samuel Cook in early 1900's, about 1910.
Cook Store

A group of men and boys at James Cook's store at Gibson in about 1910. * If anyone can identify any of these men please let Jim Cook know it !

  James and Ada Cook
James S. and his wife Ada Alice (Nelson) Cook.
Census of 1840

A copy of part of a page from the 1840 Census in Alabama with a listing of several Cook men - Benjamin Cook, William Cook and George Cook. At this time it is thought that George Cook's oldest son, Valentine, was the Father of Charles Cook of Bates.

  James and Ada Cook
Geo Cook in 1830 Census for Blount County, Western Div., Tennessee. George Cook and his wife Nancy were 28 years old in 1830. Their two oldest sons Valentine was 3 (born 1827) and Finley was born in 1830. Could this be the ancestors of James S.Cook.

  James and Ada Cook
Marriage document for Blount County, Tennessee for period from 1795 to 1854. It is thought this may possibly show the marriage of George Cook to Nancy Craw at line 695 on 5/8 1826. If both George and Nancy were born in 1802 that would make them 24 when married. Their first child Valentine was born in Tennessee in 1827. Also note the Margaret Crawley above, could Nancy's name be Crawley as well?

  Finley Cook
The Finley Cook family in Washington Township, Independence County, Arkansas in 1860. According to the census record it indicates he was 27 which would make his birth year 1833 in Tennessee which is correct. With the oldest child 6 years old and born in Arkasas it would seem Finley came to Arkansas before 1854.

  Finley Cook
This could be Valentine Cook's brother Finley Cook. Finley was born in 1833 in Tennessee and according to this entry of the death of a Finley Cook in 1870 in Van Buren County, Arkansas born in Tennessee and was 37 years old when he died. He had died of consumption as did Charles M. Cook, Valentine's son died in 1883 in Scott County, Arkansas.
