NOTES and DOCUMENTS RELATED TO THE COOK'S

  George Cook Family

A copy of part of a page from the 1850 Census of District 36, Madison, Alabama with a listing of the George Cook family in Alabama. The oldest son, Valentine age 23 was born in Tennesse in 1827, and it is thought he was Charles Cook's father.

  Valentine and Harriet Cook Family

Valentine Cook and Family. This is from U.S. Census of 1860 for Wallace Township, Independence County, State of Arkansas. Valentines wife's name should probably be spelled Harriet as you can see on the 1870 census (See Below). Note that their son Charles M. Cook was 3 years old, therefore born about 1856 or 57 in Arkansas. Note in the listing for Valentine Cook's family includes the name Christopher Askins, age 23. Also a Stewart family on same census page was left for possible future study of the Stewart relatives.

  Harriet Cook and Sons

Here is listing from 1870 census of Wallace Township, Independence County, Arkansas. It list Harriet Cook and her two youngest children, Charles and Jackson Cook. The father Valentine was not listed with them, question here is whether he died between 1860 and 1870. Another item here is the Askins family listed just previous to the Cook's and notice the numbering on left side of form, both families are in dwelling 2.
